7 Reassuring Bible Verses-Gods perspective on our Troubles …
“Best Day Ever!”
He is 7 years old…
And today is his “Best Day Ever!”
He shouts it again…”Best Day Ever!”…
As he looks out the side window of the car…
And tries to see the ground below…
But he can’t the ground…
Because the car is riding on the back of a tow truck!
In the front seat…
Mom and dad smile …
And shake their heads…
Best day ever?
Well….
Maybe that depends on your perspective!
How does this “Best Day Ever!” begin?
A few hours ago…
The family loads into the car…
Ready for vacation!
The first 8o miles are uneventful…
Then…
“Uh-Oh!”
Dad grips the steering wheel…
And shouts, “The back tire’s gonna go!”
And it does.
The Interstate is busy…
Dad puts on the flashers..
And fights the steering to get the car off the road…
Finally he stops the car safely on the shoulder
Dad reaches for his cell phone…
Wondering who to call…
When he hears a siren and sees flashing lights in his rearview mirror…
A state trooper …
“Everybody OK?”
“Yeah, how’d you get here so fast?”
“A tow truck passed you when your tire blew and called us.”
And that’s how Mom and Dad and the 7-year-old and his 9-year-old sister, all ended up riding on the back of a tow truck…
But how could even a truck-obsessed 7-year-old…
Think that a flat tire and a tow truck add up to the “Best Day Ever!”?
Perhaps he was totally in the moment…
Confident that tomorrow would be OK…
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34
Certain that His father could handle anything…
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Could that attitude be part of what Jesus meant when he said…
…“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3
Maybe we’ve got something to learn from the kids around us…
Maybe the secret to making even a bad day the “Best Day Ever”…
Is to trust God…
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
And to focus not on the troubles of this world…
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18
But on the joys of the next…
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Ever wonder about Gods perspective on our troubles?
When a day full of trouble…
is the day we start to trust Him…
Surely, He shouts, “Best Day Ever!”
For He knows what is in store for those who trust God…
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
