Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Amazing God – Boring God

“The Eagle has landed…”

Amazing God

It was a very hot July day here on earth…

When Neil Armstrong spoke those words from the moon…

Letting us all know that for the first time in history…

Humans had walked on a surface other than the earth’s.

Every single television carried the live images and sounds.

Amazing.

Awesome.

Boring?

Soon the networks didn’t even interrupt for a space launch.

Amazing had turned to routine…

What is more boring than routine?

A little more than a decade later…

I was getting a new computer!!

An Apple IIe, with 128K of RAM…

Amazing God

Even better…the computer came with floppy disk drives…

Amazing.

Today, I carry more computing power than that  in my pocket…

Amazing God

It doesn’t seem amazing at all.

Amazing has become expected…

Sometimes, the same thing happens when I consider God…

God created everything.

Everything.

Out of nothing…

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth… Genesis 1:1

Amazing God.

But I’ve heard those words from Genesis since I was a child…

I’ve heard them so often…

They sometimes fail to startle me…

Fail to amaze me.

What used to seem amazing has become familiar.

God not only created everything

He knows and cares for each one of us individually…

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7

Amazing.

But has my amazement turned to indifference?

Will my indifference blind me to His most amazing gift?

The gift of eternal life with Him?…

… While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

God’s grace.

Amazing God.

Always.

Amazing.
