Cold…

Very cold…

One of the first cold days of the year…

We crunch down the snow-covered path…

Plumes of breath…

Hanging in the air before us…

Guiding our way…

And then vanishing.

Each  breath we take…

Is the breath of God …

Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Genesis 2:7

The breath of God …

Providing strength…

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge…  Psalm 18:2

Providing guidance …

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness  2 Timothy 3:16

Providing Life itself…

… the breath of the Almighty gives me life.  Job 33:4

Providing new life…

Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew… Edwin Hatch

New life in the Spirit…

And when he had said this, he (Jesus) breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit…”  John 20:22

How stunning to think that it is the breath of God we inhale…

The breath of God we exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Maybe that’s a model of the life God wants us to live…

Inhale the breath of God…

…he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. Acts 17:25

Receive everything from Him…

Exhale the breath of God …

Give everything back to Him…

Give him our lives…

Give Him our very bodies…

…present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God…  Romans 12:1

So that He may continue to breathe on us…

Breathe on us to make us his own…
