Cheated…
She is being cheated…
You can see by the look on her face that she is not happy.
Her three, soon to be four-year-old brain tells her she is being cheated.
“Your birthday will be soon!” everyone says to her.
When is “Soon”?
Why is the family downstairs now celebrating Grandpa’s birthday?
Did Grandpa steal her birthday?
Her brain cannot figure out the answers.
“No,” she says to her Mama when Mama tells her…
“Sing happy birthday to Grandpa!”
And so now she lays in her bed and cries…
Thinking of how she is being cheated…
Asking, “Don’t they love me anymore?”
Cheated…
We are being cheated…
Our brains tell us we are being cheated.
“You’ll do great things soon,” everybody says.
When is “Soon”?
Why did somebody else get…
The promotion…
The job…
The stock market gain…
The perfect family?
Why is everybody else celebrating victories?
Did God let somebody else steal what should be ours?
Are we being cheated by God?
God says…
Rejoice with those who rejoice… Romans 12:15
But we say, “No!”
And lay in our bed and cry…
Wondering again… are we being cheated by God?
Asking, “Doesn’t God love me anymore?”
Forgetting…
…his love endures forever; Psalm 100:5
Forgetting His gift of love is beyond all compare…
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Forgetting there is a reason for His timing…
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
