Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Strange Conversation about Christ

“Can we have a meeting with Christ next week?”

ChristIt was an unusual conversation…

“That all depends…”

“Can Tom come to Christ next Thursday?”

Where was this conversation taking place?

In a church?

Was it a meeting of an evangelism committee?

Not even close…

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves…”

“Does Christ even know we want a meeting?”

“I’ll call Christ now…”

“Great.  We should let Christ take the lead anyway.”

The conversation wasn’t happening at church…

It wasn’t an evangelism committee meeting…

The conversation was happening in a business office.

The topic wasn’t what you might think.  (Any guesses?)

But the fact that it seems so unusual raises the question…

Are we afraid to speak publicly about our faith?

…to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord Jeremiah 1: 7-8

Do we think that the gospel of Christ should be mentioned only at certain times, in certain places?

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15

Do we think we should leave discussion of our faith to ordained priests and ministers?

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light…”

Are we ashamed of Christ?

Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26

“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven Mathew 10:32

Back to the conversation…

Have you guessed the topic?

It was the end of the day…

“I just want to go back to Christ!” exclaimed one office worker…

“My commute home from here is over an hour.”

“But when I worked at Christ Hospital, it was just five minutes.”

The conversation was in the office of a large health care organization, and when they referred to Christ, they meant Christ Hospital.

How different would our lives be if our thoughts, our speech and our actions were all reflections of Christ’s love?

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us Ephesians 5:1
