Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Everyday Acts of Grace

She is an older woman with five children, all grown now…

graceBut she remembers what it feels like to be in the last weeks of pregnancy…

The lack of sleep—the discomfort—the anxiety, the well-meaning friends and relatives…

People who say things like, “Gosh, haven’t you had that baby yet?”

And so when she sees a very pregnant mom-to-be walking toward her, she says just four simple, everyday words.

When the young mom hears those words, her face lights up.

She can’t stop smiling all day, and tells all of her friends about the woman who simply said, “You are so beautiful.”

The church service is over…

Most of the seats are empty now, but one is still occupied.

The middle aged woman sits there quietly crying.

From the end of the row, another woman moves toward her and sits down.  She says nothing, but quietly reaches out for her hand.

He was on a motorcycle ride with a group of friends from his church when something went wrong…

Suddenly he was sliding down the ditch straight toward a concrete culvert.

He was hundreds of miles from home when the accident happened.

Friends took time off from work, got in their cars and drove to his hospital to remind him of God’s love.  And theirs…

What opportunity will God put in our path today to share His grace?

What opportunity will we have to be the hands and feet of Christ’s love?

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32

Why should we share His love?

God is love. Therefore love. Without distinction, without calculation, without procrastination, love. -Henry Drummond

And because He told us His love is not our to keep for ourselves…

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
