Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Finding Blessed Assurance

“What do you think?” she texts….

She sends a picture…

blessed assurance

With a new shelf under the clock…

“Looks great,” I text back…

“I thought so too,” she says…

“But I’m never sure.”

Never sure…

How easy it is to be unsure.

Did I say the right words?

Wear the right clothes?

Do the right things?

We’re never sure.

Not surprising in a world of internet trolls…

Professional critics…

And even family and friends waiting to criticize…

We’re never sure…

Not surprising when we look to ourselves for certainty…

And instead of certainty, we dsicover…

Anxiety.

Anxiety…the epidemic of the 21st century.

We need an antidote.

We need assurance.

Assurance that transcends our everyday worries…

Assurance that comes from beyond ourselves.

God offers assurance…

Assurance that we can always turn to Him…

let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Hebrews 10:22

Assurance that he will never leave us…

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”   Hebrews 13:5

Assurance that nothing will ever separate us from Him…

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39

He offers assurance….

Blessed assurance….

Blessed assurance of the one thing that matters most……

Of a life spent forever with Him…

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.  John 3:36

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Frances J. Crosby, 1873
