A mess…

The kitchen is a mess.

We are out of dishwasher detergent.

Dirty dishes fill the dishwasher…

Crowd the sink …

Clutter the island…

It’s my turn to clean the kitchen.

I have absolutely no faith in my ability to get rid of this mess.

What to do?

Maybe…

If I leave before my wife gets home…

She’ll clean the kitchen for me.

Look at that clock…

She’ll be home any minute.

Time to leave!

A few hours later, I walk back into the kitchen.

My wonderful, amazingly gracious, truly talented and beautiful wife…

Has cleaned the entire kitchen.

“How long did it take you?” I ask.

I know how long it would have taken me.

“About twenty minutes,” she replies.

“How did you get done so fast?”

“One small step at a time,” she laughs.

One small step after another…

Leading to a great accomplishment.

If small worldly steps lead to great worldly accomplishment…

Could small steps toward God lead to great faith?

Are small steps God’s path to finding faith?

Are small steps of faith be God’s way of teaching us to…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5

Could they be His way of taking our small faith…

 …Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed…

And turning it into mountain-moving power?

…you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

Maybe God builds our faith…

Maybe God turns our hearts toward His…

One small step at a time.

And if we follow Him on this journey of finding faith …

Then one day we will say…

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13
