Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

The Lord is Not Slow

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise… 2 Peter 3:9

“Microwave hog!” she says…

The Lord is not slow

“Sorry I’m Late…”

“I had to wait my turn at the microwave for lunch.”

“I try to get there early every day…”

“But today, Jane was first in line.”

“She hogs the microwave for ten or fifteen minutes…”

“What’s she trying to do?”

“Cook gourmet meals in the microwave?”

“There’s only one microwave.”

“I only have half-an-hour for lunch!”

Only one Microwave.

Finite resources.

Serving one at a time…

Wait your turn!

Take a number!

How different it is with God…

There is only one God…

But He is infinite.

He is everywhere….

He is with each of us, always…

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

With each of  us, everywhere…

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. Psalm 139:7-10

No need to take a number to talk to God…

And yet…

How easy it is to think of God as slow to act…

Unresponsive to our prayers.

How easy it is to cry out in impatience…

How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? Psalm 13:1

To think we are waiting for God…

When…

It is God…

The infinite…

All powerful …

All knowing God…

God…the creator of all things…

Who waits for us…

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9
