“Their 99th birthday,” said the U.S. marshal…
“That’s when we stop pursuing suspects.”
I don’t think the U.S. Marshall’s Service is pursuing me…
But just in case…
Maybe I should live to be 100…
Just to have one year of peace.
How do I live to 100?
What if I exercise more?
Eat a better diet?
I’ll add those variables into the actuarial table.
And the result is…
My infinitesimal chance of living to 99 improved to a really, really, really tiny chance.
Guess you don’t have to bake my 99th birthday cake.
And if the U.S. Marshall’s service wants me for those 5 pennies I “borrowed” from my mother’s purse when I was 6 years old…
I guarantee them that she extracted immediate retribution.
I paid my debt to society…
A declaration I feel compelled to make since the U.S. Marshall’s service clearly never ends its pursuit of evil doers.
Who else pursues from the beginning to the end of our lives?
God..
God pursues us in love…
“Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life” Psalm 23:6a
God pursues us by the love shown on the cross…
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
God pursues us in patience…
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
Giving us every minute as a new opportunity to surrender to Him..
And that’s why we should…
Live every minute as if we’ve never lived it before…
Because we haven’t.
Live every minute as if we’ll never live it again…
Because we won’t.
Live every minute as if it is a new beginning…
A new beginning of life with the eternal God…
Because it is.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
