Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Gods Guarantee

“You need a guarantee!” the salesman says to her…

Gods Gurantee

She’s buying a new computer.

The salesman is practiced and smooth…

Eager to sell her what he thinks she wants.

He leads her to a prominently displayed machine…

Carefully-placed lights gleam off its black and gold case.

“This,” he proudly announces, “is the most beautiful computer in the store!”

Perhaps a sexist assumption in his sales strategy?

“How much memory?” she asks…

“How much storage space?”

“What kind of processor?”

“Oh,” he says and leads her to another computer.

As he explains the virtues of the next computer…

A machine across the aisle catches her eye…

“How about this one?” she asks…

“It has twice the storage, better screen resolution and a faster processor for less money.”

“Uh… well… sure. “

“But you need a guarantee for the first year.”

“Doesn’t it have a manufacturer’s guarantee for the first year?”

“Yes. But their guarantee won’t protect you if you throw it off the top of a ten-story building!”

“Will yours?”

“No. But just lie and say something else happened!”  He laughs.

If only the computer salesman were the only one selling lies wrapped in pretty packaging…

(Satan) has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.  John 8:44

The only distorter of truth against whom we need to remain vigilant…

…Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.  2 Corinthians 11:14

The only one selling meaningless guarantees…

“…your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God… Genesis 3:5

The only one distorting reality…

…Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.  2 Corinthians 11:14

But God gives us the power to chase the devil away…

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  James 4:7

And to turn to God Himself…

To turn to Gods guarantee …

Gods guarantee … the only guarantee we’ll ever need…

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
