Help!

I’m being stalked by BOGO and I can’t escape!

I’m sure you’ve heard of BOGO…

The acronym for the sales ploy called “Buy One-Get One”.

BOGO follows me everywhere I go…

Offering me a second free item of many, many things…

Things of which I need only one…

Take for instance the grocery store…

My favorite grocery store sells my favorite English muffins for twice the price of any other store….

But wait… “BOGO!” they advertise…  “Buy One, Get One!” which cuts the real price in half, except…

By the time I open the second package, it’s ready to be donated to a medical lab where they can research the rapidly proliferating little grey circles of mold, hoping to discover the next generation of antibiotics.

BOGO sales don’t work for me…

Can’t somebody just offer a good price on one of something I want…

Something I really need…

Something really worthwhile …

Considering that conundrum, my brain jumped to a whole new, unrelated topic…

(Brace yourselves for the quick transition that’s about to happen…it’s the way my brain works some days.  Just ask my wife!)

“What,” I wondered, “is the most worthwhile item ever offered to humanity?”

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.   John 3:16

Eternal Life…

And we didn’t even have to “Buy One” to “Get One”…

Jesus paid the entire price…

In the words of the old hymn…

Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;

It’s not a BOGO transaction….

There is nothing we can buy, no price we can pay…

But out of gratitude for getting an eternal life from God, we give our lives to him…

Could it be a GOGO transaction?

GOGO… as in Get One (life) Give One (life)

Get One Life through God’s Grace – Give One Life to God in humble gratitude…

GOGO…

How appropriate is that acronym?

Doesn’t Jesus tell us to go?

‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’” Mark 16:15
