Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Shout for Joy

Look at his face…

Shout for Joy

He’s so happy!

He looks like he could shout for Joy …

Because he’s standing in his swimming pool!

Swimming pool?

As his father said when he posted the picture on Facebook…

“Apparently… we have an indoor swimming pool. We had no idea…”

Maybe he’ll turn on the Jacuzzi soon…

The one that starts when you push down on the little silver handle.

Meanwhile….

His big sister stands next to him…

Wearing the costume of her favorite movie character…

Sure that when she wears the costume, she actually becomes the character.

The very thought of it makes her happy….

Makes her run around the house and shout for joy …

Two children…

Living in the happiness of just-discovered joy.

Joy we adults are far too wise to even notice …

Maybe that’s why God reveals true joy to children and the childlike…

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.  Matthew 11:25

Maybe that’s why Jesus calls children to him…

And gives them the greatest gift of all…

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. Romans 8:17

How different the world would be if we grownups remembered that we too are children.

Children of God…

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith   Galatians 3:26

Children called to joy…

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Psalm 100:1

Called to Joy in the midst of all circumstances…

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.  James 1:2-4

Called to joy in the knowledge of God’s ever-present love…

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Called to joy in the certainty of the life to come…

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
