Top 5 Parenting Tips From Jen Hatmaker

There is always somebody smarter than me…

Top 5 Parenting tips

OK, I am pausing…

Waiting for those of you who know me well to agree loudly…

It’s true of course…

and it’s exciting.

Somebody always knows more about something…

Sometimes I choose to let those smart people do their thing while I sit back and benefit along with the rest of society from their work…

Take advanced particle physics for example…

Wasn’t seventh grade math the subject I got my worst grade ever in?

(I could tell you it was the teacher’s fault… but you’d know better…)

I am not planning to take up particle physics anytime soon…

But other people know about things that could really change my life.

When they talk, I listen…

That’s why I paid special attention at church on Mother’s day when Jen Hatmaker talked to mothers about parenting.

Here are the top five things I learned from Jen Hatmaker ….

  1. The only one in charge of our kids’ lives is God

  2. A mom’s main job is to give our kids God

  3. Scared Moms raise scared kids-Brave moms raise brave kids

  4. We do our kids a disservice to sanitize their lives and cushion every blow…

  5. Motherhood can be complicated – let go of what you expected-embrace what you have

One more thing I learned from Jen Hatmaker…

Be genuine, open, honest…

Jen Hatmaker was all of those things.  That’s why she got a standing ovation at the end of her presentation.
