The warning arrived in my email…
Warning: You must click here to validate your email!
The warning says it’s from “my email team” … but I don’t recognize the return address of 34 numbers and strange characters…
Think I’ll ignore it…
We live in a world of warnings…
- The bottle of skin lotion warns it may cause heart failure and kidney damage…
- The airbag in my car warns it can kill me if I am not wearing my seat belt…
- My breakfast cereal warns that I might choke if I am under two years old…
To make the Bible more understandable to 21st century people, let’s create the “New Revised Warning Signs Version”!
(Would that be the NRWSV?)
We could replace…
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Mathew 7:13-14
With this warning…
The Golden Rule?
Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31
Replace it with a three word warning…
What about this verse???
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death Proverbs 14:12
Here’s the perfect warning…
Isn’t re-writing the Bible fun?
Warning signs are so succinct!
How many pages will we save in our new translation? How many trees will we spare?
It’s the perfect solution: a 21st century, environmentally friendly Bible.
But what will we do with the parts of the Bible that are not warnings?
How will the “New Revised Standard Warning Version” handle God’s promises?
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
How will it treat God’s ultimate promise?
a promise based in love…
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
A replacement for that verse?
There is none…
There is one sign and one alone that sums it up…
