My view of Mother’s Day has changed over time…

Or has it?

When I was very young….

Maybe 4 or 5 years old…

I was excited to make a Mother’s Day card…

To show my mom how grown up I was!

I guess Mother’s Day was really all about me, wasn’t it?

When I grew up and moved away, I had to buy her a nice gift….

So she’d know I didn’t forget her…

Uh, wait…

Do you see a pattern?

Was Mother’s Day still all about me?

My own mother died many years ago…

And today on Mother’s Day…

I honor my wife…

And my daughter, who has two children of her own!

Maybe it’s time I break that earlier pattern!
