Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Live in the Moment

“Fear not, for I am with you…” Isaiah 41:10

Crying…

He was cutting teeth…

And that made him a very unhappy baby.

The ride in the car had quieted him down…

But as soon as mama pulled into a parking space at the store, he started crying again.

He was tired and crabby and cutting teeth and generally unhappy with the whole world.

He had spent most of last night crying too.

That meant Mama had spent most of last night awake…

she was tired and crabby and sleep deprived and generally unhappy with the whole world.

“Look Mama,” the three-year-old big sister cried out from the back seat, “Face paint!”

She had found an orange marker and drawn all over her face…

The good news? The marker was washable.

Bad news? There was no water in the car.

There was one bottle of Mountain Dew…

Mama cleaned her three year old’s face with what was available.

“What a day,” Mama thought.

“How will I get everything done?”

Reaching across the car for the diaper bag, her hand came in contact with her much-needed cup of coffee…

Coffee splattered across the seats and puddled on the floor.

Gripping the steering wheel…

Watching the last of the coffee drip slowly from the seat to the floor…

Mama cried.

Loudly. Uncontrollably.

Slowly, her tears turned to laughter…

She laughed until she drowned-out the sound of the baby’s crying…

Laughed until her three-year-old started laughing too.

“Might as well live in the moment ,” she thought…and reached over and tickled her nine-month-old until he laughed too.

Might as well live in the moment …

Because only God can live anywhere else…

Might as well live in the moment …

Because only in the moment will we find God’s strength…

Look to the Lord and his strength; 1 Chronicles 16:11

His Love…

…God is love …1 John 4:16

His very presence…

…“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  Exodus 33: 14

And only in his presence will we find true joy…

…in your presence there is fullness of joy; Psalm 16:11
